LAHQ Board education subcommittee identified gaps in knowledge related to patient safety concepts in healthcare. 

The conference will introduce the learner to concepts regarding the application of aviation safety practices in healthcare, alarms management, identification of the 2017 top safety issues, and utilization of patient safety processes/strategies and “Just Culture” to improve patient safety.

COURSE OUTCOMES:

  • THE LEARNER WILL DISCUSS application of aviation safety to healthcare.
  • THE LEARNER WILL DESCRIBE evidence based alarm management strategies.
  • THE LEARNER WILL DISCUSS the ECRI Top Ten Safety Issues for 2017.
  • THE LEARNER WILL DESCRIBE a positive approach to widespread implementation of a structured patient safety program.
  • THE LEARNER WILL EXPLAIN components of “just culture” principles.


About the association

Since 1976, the Louisiana Association for Healthcare Quality has been a guidepost for healthcare quality professionals. We were founded in 1976, later incorporated in 1982, and officially named the Louisiana Association for Healthcare Quality in 1995. LAHQ enjoys a diverse membership that includes professionals from many quality-related disciplines such as utilization, risk, case management, patient safety and infection control.
